Jordan will open a new camp for Syrian refugees before the end of this year, the state-run Petra news agency reported Monday. The camp, which will be located in Zarqa governorate, will start receiving refugees before the end of 2012, Anmar Hmoud, government spokesperson for Syrian refugees affairs, said Monday. The camp is expected to receive about 30,000 Syrian refugees, Hmoud added. According to official figures, more than 240,000 Syrian refugees entered Jordan since unrest erupted in their country in 2011.
