Jordan and Turkey signed here on Monday an agreement to draft a framework to regulate relations between the two governments, especially the future grants and aid to be provided by Turkey to Jordan.The agreement will cover conditions and obligations that should be met by each side in the future, according to Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Saif, who thanked the Turkish government for the $50,000 aid in-kind that it will provide to Jordan through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). The aid, which includes home appliances, will be presented to 100 needy families through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), the minister added.The agreement, which was signed by Saif and TIKA Chairman Serdar Cam, will cover technical and economic cooperation as well as humanitarian aid in emergencies. It will also cover the execution of programs to enhance economic and social development, with focus on knowledge exchange, development, environment, renewable energy, culture, scientific cooperation, SMEs support, health, transportation, sewage and other fields.“The agreement did not set the value of aid that will be presented to Jordan,” the minister said, adding that it will be determined later through technical teams in the light of the projects proposed by the Jordanian government.The Turkish official said that his country was committed to providing various support programs to Jordan, noting that signing this agreement will, definitely, boost the ties between the two countries.
