Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Wednesday met with the EU envoy to the Middle East peace process Andreas Reinicke, currently on a visit to Amman. The meeting discussed developments and efforts of reviving direct and serious negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides in order to achieve the goal of a two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent viable Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil, and achieves peace and security for countries of the region. In a related development, Judeh discussed with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Paet means of forging closer cooperation between the two countries, besides the latest regional developments, particularly the Syrian crisis and the peace process, official news agency Petra reported. The two ministers highlighted the need to continue coordination and consultations on several issues of mutual concern. The talks also touched on the situation in Syria and its humanitarian repercussions on Jordan, now home to thousands of Syrian refugees, who fled the violence in their country. Judeh and Paet called for the resumption of peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis so as to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, Petra reported.
