Jordanian King Abdullah II discussed on Saturday with visiting US Senator John McCain and his accompanying delegation developments in the region, particularly Syria and the Middle East peace process. A statement from the King's office said that the meeting also highlighted ways of exerting efforts to bring back the Palestinian and Israelis to the negotiation table based on the two-state solution. The Jordanian leader stressed importance of continued US involvement in peace-making efforts. The two also discussed the worsening conditions in Syria, whereas the King renewed Jordan's support of a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Syria, a solution that maintains its territorial integrity and the unity of its people, and put an end to the bloodshed. The Jordanian leader warned of the repercussions of the grave situation in Syria on the whole region, and the vacuum which may be exploited by extremist elements to carry out their agendas.
