Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan on Thursday discussed with Deputy UN Higher Commissioner for Refugees Thomas Alexander Aleinikoff the issue of Syrian refugees in Jordan as well as support needed to host them in the country. The meeting came within a joint appeal launched in August by Jordan and international relief organizations to help Syrian refugees in Jordan. It highlighted the need to provide direct support to the Jordanian government to enable it to carry the burden of hosting Syrian refugees. The UN official hailed Jordan’s role to continue hosting Syrian refugees and providing them with needed services.
