Jordan's King Abdullah II met yesterday with Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Paul Ryan and his accompanying delegation comprising lawmakers from both republican and democratic parties.

The two sides discussed the Palestinian issue, the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Jordan, as well as the fight against terrorism.

King Abdullah on the occasion stressed the necessity of intensifying efforts by all concerned parties to end the stalemate in the Palestinian-Israeli peace process to make progress based on the two-state solution and legitimate international resolutions. He warned that failure to bring peace would fuel tensions and feed extremism in the region.
