Kazakhstan\'s president Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed a new prime minister Monday, hours after the previous head of government resigned. Serik Akhmetov, the former deputy prime minister, succeeds Karim Massimov, who led the government since 2007. Parliament has already approved the appointment, local media reported.
