On Thursday U.S Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Jerusalem to continue the peace negotiations between the Palestine and the Israelis.At a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before their meeting, Kerry recalled comments he made at the end of one of his recent trips, that the time leaders will have to make difficult decisions was nearing. “We are close to that time, if not at it,” the LA Times reported.The process has been ongoing for more than five months and Kerry stated that “it is safe to say that we know what the issues are.” He added that the next few days will involve intense work on such issues as “borders, security, refugees, Jerusalem, mutual recognition and the end of conflict and all claims,” saying that he was not here to “impose American ideas.”During the meeting Kerry also said that ““we are close to that time, if not at [the time]” when the leaders are going to have to make difficult decisions.Kerry is trying to push a much debated framework through and he argued that it “will take time and it will take compromise from both sides. But an agreed framework would be a significant breakthrough.”The peace talks are scheduled to end in April after a nine month period.
