The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs on Thursday declared allowing non-profit organizations and charities licensed by the Ministry to collect donations in mosques for the relief of the Syrian people in fulfillment of the desire of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah . Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Adel Al-Falah told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the mosques of Kuwait would open doors to collect donations in response to His Highness the Amir desire to aid the Syrian people. Mosques in Kuwait will take part in this charity campaign in line with their leading role in charity work, and in order to effectuate the mission to motivate Muslims to participate, he added. The fundraising process will be in accordance with the regulations and standards set by the Ministry of Awqaf, he said. He explained that the most prominent of those controls are collecting donations through the deductions banking service, (K-net) as well as vouchers stamped by the Ministry. According to the set regulations, each association will place an advertisement in front of the mosque's door to be removed at the end of the fund-raising period, which will be for six months. The fund raiser should provide his ID, stressing that the Imam is entitled to prevent the licensed associations from collecting funds only in case of violation of the instructions.
