Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received on Thursday a letter from UK Home Department Secretary Theresa May on bilateral security relations and the expected application of the UK e-visa system for Kuwaitis.
The letter was handed to Sheikh Mohammad during his reception of the UK Ambassador to Kuwait Matthew Lodge, the Interior Ministry's Security Media Department said in a press statement.
It added that Sheikh Mohammed discussed with Lodge several issues of common interest. Both sides affirmed depth of cooperation between the two countries.
It noted that the letter of the UK Secretary addressed bilateral security cooperation and the UK application of e-visa system for Kuwaitis seeking to travel to the UK, which will start this year.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammad underlined the importance of strengthening security relations between Kuwait and UK, given the rapid developments on the regional and international arenas.
For his part, UK ambassador expressed gratitude to Kuwait and appreciation of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries. He also pointed out that the meeting tackled several key issues.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammad discussed with Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Muhammad Aslam Khan issues of common interest, bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them.
The Ambassador handed the Interior Minister an invitation to visit Pakistan from Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The Pakistani Ambassador praised the brotherly relations between the two countries.
