Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had talks here Thursday with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ghandour on the North and South Sudan crisis.

Lavrov voiced hope that the talks would be fruitful.

Ghandour thanked Russia for its support for Sudan at the United Nations Security Council.

Later in the day, Lavrov will hold a tripartite meeting with the foreign ministers of North and South Sudan who arrived in Moscow on Wednesday.
