Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that his country's cooperation with Iran is not targeted against any other country. In a press conference Wednesday with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, Lavrov said that this cooperation is based on mutual respect and joint common interests. "There have been good talks over last months between Iran and Russia on the expansion of cooperation between the two countries on building reactor and nuclear power plants and the two countries have got closed on agreement and executive measures. He added that Iran's nuclear program will continue to be supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Geneva nuclear accord will also be implemented. On the Syrian front, the Russian minister stressed the importance of Syria's participation in Geneva 2 to stop the ongoing bloodshed. On his part, Zarif agreed with the Russia on the significance of solving the Syrian crisis in peacefully without any international interference. Zarif also expressed the hope that Lavrov's trip to Iran would pave the way for the further expansion of constructive and large cooperation between the two sides. Lavrov is in Tehran for talks with senior Iranian officials on issues of mutual interests as well as regional and international developments.
