The Cabinet has today endorsed the draft law on the establishment of the National Institution for Human Rights(NIHR). His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa chaired the session at Al-Sakhir Palace, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. The watchdog hailed the endorsement of the draft law, which was referred to the legislative branch of government as per the constitutional and legal provisions. In a statement today, it lauded HM the King's call to stave off divisive calls to drive wedges and spread hatred among Bahrainis. It paid tribute to the wise leadership and the Government for their efforts to pursue the reform project, urging all political forces to follow suit and support the process. It also appealed to all components of Bahraini society to rally behind the reform process to achieve hopes and aspirations for further progress and prosperity. The watchdog called on all parties to join ranks to protect the reform strides and support Bahrain's fledgling democracy, urging them to play an active role in developing their country and protecting national security. It also stressed the need to renounce tit-for-tat violence, sabotage and sectarian incitement to protect social cohesion and stability and promote sustainable development.
