The Lebanese army commander General Jean Kahwagi met here on Thursday with visiting US Deputy Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Elizabeth Jones and her accompanying delegation. Discussions during the meeting dealt with the general situation , and ways to develop relations between the Lebanese and US armies. The US official expressed appreciation for the role being played by the army in protecting Lebanon, as well as her country’s commitment to activate the US aid program for Lebanon.
