Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister Jibran Bassil met on Monday with his Mexican counterpart Jose Antonio Mead Kuribrena, where they held talks on an array of matters, including army armament, economic and trade exchange, direct airline between Lebanon and Latin American countries, diplomatic cooperation, and Lebanese Diaspora, NNA news agency reported.

The meeting took place in the presence of a Mexican delegation comprising of economic, trade and business dignitaries accompanying Minister Kuribrena on his visit.

Winding up the meeting, Ministers Bassil and Kuribrena held a joint press conference during which Bassil welcomed the Mexican Minister in Lebanon, saying that the visit is a chance to further bolster bilateral relations politically and economically.

Bassil noted that the Minister and his accompanying delegation's visit to Lebanon comes in the framework of the holding of "Emigrants'' Potentials" Conference, designed to look into means of activating cooperation and trade exchange between Lebanon and Mexico.

Bassil also noted that he raised with Kuribrena the issue of reconsidering the Mexican decision related to prohibiting arms to Lebanon, in order to enable the Lebanese army to counter terrorism.
