Libyan Defence minister Abdullah Al-Thinni denied on Saturday reports that his kidnapped son had been released. Social media carried extensive reports that 26 year-old Muhammed Al-Thinni had been released during the fighting around Gharghour and taken to Mitiga. The minister asserted that such reports are entirely untrue. He urged all media to be very careful when publishing information from social media. If this turned out to be wrong, he said “sometimes it makes the situation worse”. Muhammed Thinni, the minister’s only son, was abducted from his Hyundai car on 24 September, while in Janzour.
