The Libyan interim government formed a ministerial delegation to hold negotiations with the US administration over restoring frozen Libyan funds in US banks.

In a press release on Sunday, the Libyan government said such negotiations come after an invitation from US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations concerning supporting Libya in unfreezing its funds as well as solving problems facing it.

The outcome of the delegation's visit to the US will be raised to the cabinet to take necessary measures, the statement further said.

In 2011, Los Angeles Times said frozen Libyan assets in US banks reached 34 billion dollars.

Libya plunged into chaos following the 2011 uprising against Muammar Gaddafi. The ouster of Gaddafi gave rise to a patchwork of heavily-armed militias and deep political divisions.

The country has been witnessing numerous clashes between government forces and rival militia groups, which refuse to lay down arms.
