The search is on for a Lithuanian-registered AN-2 plane, which was last heard from somewhere over the Baltic Sea, the Lithuanian Navy said, Russia Today reported.

The aircraft was returning from Sweden, with only two pilots on board.

It last made contact about 97 nautical miles from shore.

The Navy has deployed ships and a helicopter in the search.
