The first round of the presidential election in Madagascar was postponed to July 24 from May 8, the electoral commission of the Indian Ocean island state said on Tuesday. Atallah Beatrice, the president of independent national election commission of the transition, said the second round, if necessary, will be held with the legislative election on Sept. 25. The run-off was initially set for July 3. The communal election will take place on Oct. 23, Beatrice added.
