Kuala Lumpur - KUNA
The Malaysian police refuted on Tuesday news reports over the existence of Al-Qaeda members on its soil following the arrest of two Malaysian nationals in Beirut on charge of affiliation to the terrorist organization. Chief of anti-terrorism team Fouzi Haroun said in a statement to Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) that Malaysia is free of any affiliation to the outlawed Al-Qaeda network. He added that the security personnel have not yet received any information on the presence of Al-Qaeda members or activities, however, there might be some activities to recruit locals into the Al-Qaeda. The two Malaysians have been arrested by the intelligence unit of the Lebanese army earlier this week.
