Mali's chief prosecutor said that it has evidence that jihadist group Al Mourabitoun, is behind the November attack on a luxury hotel that killed 20 people, Sky News reported on Sunday.

On November 20, at least two armed men stormed the luxury Radisson Blu hotel, killing six Russians, three Chinese nationals, an American and several others.

Boubacar Sidiki Samake said that an Arabic written note was found on the bodies of the two men, later killed by Malian Special Forces. The note called for the release of two prisoners who are members of Al Mourabitoun held in neighboring Niger and Mauritania.

These factors lead us to think that effectively Al Mourabitoun was behind this attack, Samake said on Malian state television late Saturday.
Details of Mali's investigation have been slow to emerge, he said.

Sahara-based Al Mourabitoun is led by Algerian Islamist leader Mokhtar Belmokhtar with a long history of leading insurgencies across north Africa and the Sahara.
