Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki agreed on removing Anbar Police Commander, Major General Hadi Rizayij, and appointing Major General Ismael al-Mahalawi, instead as Acting Commander of Anbar Police. Chairman of Anbar Council, Sabah Karhout, told NINA on Sunday, Jan. 5, that the Council held an emergency session, during which it decided to dismiss Major General Rizayij for failing to handle the province’ security and appoint Major General Ismael al-Mahalawi in his place.
