Police in Paris

A knife-wielding man who was shot dead trying to enter a northern Paris police station on Thursday was wearing a fake explosive belt, a police union source said, according to Sputnik News Agency.

The shooting took place a day after the first anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in the newspaper's Parisian office, and just a few minutes after French President Francois Hollande had finished paying homage to police officers killed in the line of duty, including three shot to death in the attacks last January.
