Future MP Atef Majdalani said Monday that March 14 will not allow Hezbollah to establish a state modeled after Wilayat al-Faqih (“rule by the jurisprudent”). “We are the ones with the slogan of transforming Lebanon into a [functioning] state, and we are the ones working toward a free and democratic country,” Majdalani said criticizing Hezbollah’s statement that the party has made compromises “to take back the state.” Majdalani accused Hezbollah of attacking Beirut and Mount Lebanon on May 7, 2008, killing First Lieutenant Samer Hanna in south Lebanon in 2008, holding on to illegal weapons, and protecting those accused of assassinating former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Majdalani also criticized Hezbollah for ignoring the Syrian army violations taking place on the Lebanese-Syrian border. From DailyStar
