The political adviser of Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto arrived Tuesday in Cairo to take part in a ceremony marking the inauguration of the New Suez Canal on Thursday.

Carlos de Ecassa came on behalf of Nieto to partake in the international event.

A team, headed by deputy assistant foreign minister for protocol affairs Ashraf Munir, was formed in collaboration with the Foreign, Interior, and Aviation ministries to receive the official delegations, which would come from 80 states.

The team will finish the procedures of the arrivals for delegations and escorting them to their residencies.
