Militants launched several mortar attacks on pro-Assad rallies in Deir Ezzur in Eastern Syria on Wednesday. The Syrian terrorists fired several mortar rounds on the demonstrators who had staged a rally in support of the Syrian army and against the terrorists in Al-Qassour residential area in Deir Ezzur, Al-Mayadeen TV channel reported. The militants’ attack on the rally led to the injury of several ralliers. The Syrian people are staging extensive protests in support of the Syrian army and against terrorists in different parts of Syria. The Syrian people staged rallies in support of President Bashar Al-Assad in Al-Maydan town in Damascus countryside just last week. Earlier, people also took part in pro-Assad protests in Daraa in Southern parts of Syria. The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states. The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history. As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists. Washington has remained indifferent to warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
