Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb

The moderate religious discourse is crucial to confront extremist and devious ideas, affirmed Egypt's Grand Azhar Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb.

During his visit Thursday to 'Universitas Darussalam Gontor" in Indonesia, Tayyeb warned of the repercussions of restoring to exclusion and blasphemy accusations.

He also urged the students to be messengers of peace and moderation.

Tayyeb, meanwhile, extended thanks and appreciation to the Indonesian nation along with the students of the university for the warm reception he received.

Tayyeb also decided to grant 50 scholarships to the students at the "Universitas Darussalam Gontor" to study at Al Azhar University.

He also pointed out to the previously announced 50 scholarships for the Indonesian students in general.
