Moldova\'s parliament on Friday elected top judge Nicolae Timofti as president, ending a political stalemate that left the country without a full-time head of state for almost three years. Sixty-two members of parliament voted for Timofti\'s nomination to become president of the ex-Soviet state, just one more than the minimum three-fifths majority required, an AFP correspondent reported.
