Former Spanish Foreign Minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, criticized the EU policy in dealing with the crisis in Syria, Europa Pres newspaper said. The paper added that Moratinos, during the /Peace Track Forum/ held in the Spanish city of Seville, called on the countries of the EU to adopt a strategic and more weight decision regarding the future of the region. \"To solve the crisis in Syria we need a further diplomacy on the ground, in addition to an international community\'s commitment to a unified stance, but there is no commitment because Europe lacks a common strategy in this regard,\" he said. He stressed that the EU countries have committed many diplomatic mistakes towards Syria, stressing rejection of fragmenting Syria and necessity of unifying the different parties fighting each other in Syria. He stressed that the first step for negotiations is stopping violence, withdrawing guns, but not more weapons. \" We should discuss new means for ensuring humanitarian aid to the Syrian people to ease their suffering,\" Moratinos concluded.
