Heavy clashes re-erupted Monday in the northern city of Tripoli between the rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, security sources said. The sources said heavy gunfire and rocket propelled grenades were being used in the clashes between Jabal Mohsen, residents of which support Syrian President Bashar Assad, and Bab al-Tabbaneh, where residents largely support the uprising in Lebanon’s neighbor. Rifaat Eid, the head of the Arab Democratic Party, which supports Assad, is urging the Lebanese Army to respond to the sources of fire and take control of the situation, the sources said. Meanwhile, more people erected tents outside Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s residence in the city as part of a sit-in launched Sunday by Akkar MP Mouin Merhebi. The Daily Star
