President Mohamed Morsi on Thursday approved promoting commanders of the Armed Forces\' main branches (Air-Naval-Air Defense) to Lt. Gen. rank. The decision was taken during an Armed Forces meeting that Morsi called to contain a state of resentment among members of the army due to smear campaigns targeting the military. During the meeting held at the General Secretariat of the Defense Ministry, Morsi asserted his rejection of bids to defame the military institution, a well-placed source told MENA. Morsi expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Armed Forces in protecting the nation, the source added.
