Russia welcomed statements by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir who described Russia's role in the region as a peace maker.

According to the Saudi Al-Jazeera newspaper, Jubeir's remarks on the keenness of the Saudi kingdom on establishing a strong partnership with Russia reflected a mutual desire to enhance bilateral relations, despite differences on ways to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

A Russian source described as promising the future of Saudi-Russian relations in the various political, economic and investment domains.
