Ismail al-Sheshtawi, head of the Egyptian Radio and TV Union, was elected on Wednesday as the chairman of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU). The appointment came during a meeting of the ASBU general assembly. The meeting discussed boosting radio cooperation among member states as well as the financial sources of the union. The assembly also elected members of the union\'s training centers and committees. Founded in 1969, the ASBU is an Arab joint-action institution related to the League of Arab States and the Pan-Arab Association of Public Service and Commercial Broadcasters based in Tunis.
