Construction of the world's longest cable-stayed highway and railway bridge will get underway in east China at the end of this month, authorities said Thursday. The bridge linking Shanghai and Nantong in Jiangsu Province is 11 kilometers long with a five kilometers span across the Yangtze River. Construction will take more than five years to complete, the transportation authority of Jiangsu said. The project is expected to ease traffic pressure in Shanghai and Jiangsu Province and contribute to the economic development of the Yangtze River Delta and Shanghai free trade zone.
