Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Sanusi Lamido Sanusi over allegations of misconduct and financial recklessness said to have characterized his tenure at the apex bank, presidential spokesman Reuben Abati told Xinhua in Abuja. Sanusi was given a directive to immediately hand over to Sarah Alade, the most senior deputy governor of the CBN, who will serve as acting governor of the apex bank until the conclusion of investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and mandate of the top financial institution, the president's mouthpiece said. "Sanusi's tenure has been characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration's vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline," a presidential statement alleged
