US President Barack Obama "warmly" congratulated Saturday Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the new Italian government on their swearing-in, the White House announced. White House Spokesperson Jay Carney said in a statement that the US and Italy "share an enduring friendship." He added that Obama "looks forward to working closely with Prime Minister Renzi and President (Giorgio) Napolitano as our two countries jointly seek to promote jobs and economic opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic and tackle todays complex security challenges."
