US President Barack Obama is expected to nominated prominent civil-rights attorney Thomas Perez as Secretary of Labor, according to media sources late Sunday. Perez, Assistant Attorney General at the Justice Department, will likely replace outgoing Hilda Solis and will be the only cabinet member of Latin-American descent. At the start of his second term, Obama put a greater importance on immigration reform in his domestic policies. Perez was a Justice Department attorney for 12 years prosecuting civil-rights cases, and a deputy assistant attorney general in the Clinton administration.
