US President Barack Obama said that the G8 countries are in agreement on reaching a political resolution for the crisis in Syria, and that they want to see Syria unified, democratic and peaceful. In a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday, Obama said that there\'s a need to see an end to bloodshed and for chemical weapons to not be used, adding that talk about the US wanting to take part in a war on Syria isn\'t accurate; rather the US wants to \"put an end to the war in it.\" Obama refused to reveal the type of weapons his country will send to armed terrorist groups in Syria. For her part, Merkel said that Germany has clear and strict rule that doesn\'t allow for providing weapons to sides in areas witnessing conflicts or civil wars, noting that Germany can play a constructive role in terms of a political transition process in Syria or humanitarian aid. She warned that increasing the flow of weapons will undermine stability in the region\'s countries.
