Sanaa - Saba
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has exerted vigorous efforts in the follow-up to the issue of Yemeni Guantanamo detainees, an official source at the ministry has said. The source expressed his surprise for what has been reported by some media about the lack of coordination between the ministry and the U.S. side to discuss the release of Yemeni detainees at Guantanamo. He explained that the delaying in dates was as a result of the U.S. side apology to receive a delegation at this time. The source pointed out that the Foreign Ministry will continue to pursue this issue with all parties, particularly the U.S. side, which the ministry worked to communicate with it either through official correspondence or meetings and the latest of which was a meeting between the Foreign Minister and Minister of Human Rights and the U.S. ambassador on 24 April this year. In this regard, the source confirmed that President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi is following the case and exerting great efforts to find a solution ending the suffering of the detainees and their families by all means and mechanisms to achieve this goal. It is worthy to mention that Human Rights Minister Hooria Mashhsour headed for the United States last Friday to talk with US officials on Yemeni Guantanamo detainees.
