Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani has strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting the motorcade of UAE ambassador in Mogadishu which left twelve people dead and several others injured.
In a statement by the OIC, Madani, who described the attack as a coward act against key partners like the UAE, said it this terrorist act aims at scaring the international community which has been striving to rebuild Somalia and return durable peace to the country.
"Madani appeals to the UAE not to be deterred from going ahead with its noble mission. He also insists that the enemies of peace should not be allowed to achieve their evil goals."
Also, he presented his sincere condolences to the United Arab Emirates, the government and people of Somalia for the tragic incident and the loss of precious lives.
He reiterated OIC stance that rejects all forms of extremism and terrorism which he said are nothing but purely crimes against humanity.
He finally assured Somalia of the determination of the OIC to continue to actively support its endeavors for the restoration of peace and stability.
