An official session of talks was held in the German capital, Berlin between the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Republic of Germany, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported. The Sultanate\'s side was chaired by Youssef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs whilst the German side was chaired by Dr. Guido Westerwelle, German Foreign Minister. The session discussed fields of the existing bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries and opportunities of enhancing the economic partnership between them, particularly in the areas of energy, infrastructure projects, such as ports, roads and railways, as well as vocational training and technical education, health and education. The two ministers also touched on a number of international issues, including the peace process track in the Middle East and the potentials of supporting it, as well as the situation in Syria as the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs and his German counterpart welcomed the US-Russian initiative to hold an international conference in a bid to address the situation in Syria. The two ministers also agreed to support this initiative as it comes within the framework of the political situation, which is indispensable to end the crisis in Syria.
