Pakistan on Thursday said that it wanted a complete halt of US drone attacks instead of a decrease in their frequency, said an official press release. Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam, in a weekly briefing here, said that Pakistan's stance over drone strikes was lucid and that they were unacceptable as they killed innocent people and violated Pakistan's sovereignty. She further said, "Pakistan has consistently discussed this issue with the United States and demanded that these violations of territory should stop." Aslam said that Pakistan also welcomed US President Obama's statement regarding drone attacks. "Our voice on drones has also been endorsed by the international community," she added. Pakistan has been strongly condemning the US led drone strikes in the northern tribal areas killing many people but the US considered the drone strikes vital in the war against terrorism.
