Pakistani foreign ministry on Friday summoned the U.S. Charge d’affaires in Islamabad Richard Hoagland to record its protest over the anti-Islam film which was produced recently in USA. The ministry handed over a demarche to the U.S. official in this connection, expressing “strong protest” and declaring the film “blasphemous” and a conspiracy against Muslims and world peace. A foreign ministry statement on Friday said Hoagland was informed that the film amounted to “an attack on 1.5 billion Muslims across the world and a premeditated and a malicious act to spread hatred and violence among people of different faiths.” Hoagland was also told that “the U.S. Government should immediately take measures to remove the sacrilegious video from YouTube and take action against its author.” In statement he gave following the meeting, Hoagland said he had informed officials that Washington had nothing to do with the film and had already condemned its contents and message and also appreciated Pakistan commitment to protect the facilities and personnel of diplomatic missions Mass protests swept Pakistan in the wake of the emergence of the film that depicts Islam’s Prophet Mohammed in a denigrating manner. The Pakistani government blocked access to YouTube after the video site failed to remove the film.
