Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al Maliki has called on the European Union countries which have not recognized the Palestinian state to do so.

Maliki was speaking on Monday at the informal ministerial meeting on the future of European Neighborhood Policy, held in Barcelona.

He further demanded more effective and powerful EU role to end the Israeli occupation and help establish an independent Palestinian state.

The EU meeting aims to discuss promoting political cooperation and progressive economic integration between the EU and the partner countries.
