Ramallah - MENA
The Palestinian Presidency hailed Friday a non-binding resolution passed by the Italy's Chamber of Deputies calling on the government to recognize Palestine as an independent state.
In a statement, the presidency described the resolution as a new step to the establishment of two states living side by side.
Top Palestinian official Nabil Shaath called also for more efforts to establish the independent state of Palestine under the United Nations resolutions.
About ten European Parliaments took the same non-binding resolution, he said, urging the EU's governments to carry out their parliaments' resolution to stop the Israeli occupation.
