Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Wednesday with his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolic in Belgrade.

The two leaders' closed meeting was followed by an expanded meeting that included senior members of the two countries.

During the gathering, Abbas briefed Nikolic on the latest developments of the Middle East peace process and the US, Arab and international efforts to achieve peace in the region.

Also, he acquainted the Serbian leader on the exerted international, Arab and French efforts to submit a draft resolution before the Security Council ending the Israeli occupation in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and setting a time frame for establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
