Member of Fatah Central Committee Azzam al Ahmed discussed here on Monday during a brief visit to Egypt with the Egyptian Intelligence Service the latest developments on the Palestinian arena particularly the reconciliation file, the government and facilities offered by Egypt to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

In statements to MENA, al Ahmed said his meeting with members of the Intelligence Service covered several issues particularly efforts exerted to form a national unity government and eliminating obstacles in this respect in order to end the division.

The Egyptian side asserted support to efforts to form a national unity government to end the division at this critical stage the Palestinian cause is passing through, he said

The facilities offered by Egypt to the Gaza Strip were also discussed along with future facilities through the Rafah crossing to ease the suffering of the Gazans, he said.

The Egyptian officials stressed keenness on continuing with these facilities in light of the improvement of conditions and the developments on the ground, he added.

The Egyptian side briefed him on Egypt's efforts with the Israeli side to maintain the truce as Egypt is a sponsor of the truce agreement following the latest Israeli attack on the enclave, he added.

Following the meeting, the Palestinian officials left for Ramallah.
