Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas began on Friday an inspection tour of Jericho.

Abbas inaugurated the mosque of former Palestinian president Yasser Arafat.

Abbas performed Friday prayers at Yasser Arafat's Mosque with Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.

During the tour, Abbas inspected buildings of the Independence University, inaugurated Khaled al Hasan Library and Selim Zaanoun Faculty of Law. He also laid the foundation stone of Mahmoud Abbas Palace for Conferences.

The Palestinian president lauded the progress and development of the university.

Besides Hamdallah, Abbas was accompanied by head of the Palestinian National Council Selim Zaanoun and a number of high-ranking officials.
