Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Monday with European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Fernando Gentilini.

Abbas posted him on the latest Palestinian developments.

He further underscored the commitment of the Palestinian side to achieving peace via holding negotiations so as to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders.

Abbas underlined the political role of Europe in achieving permanent and fair peace in the region, highlighting its economic support to the Palestinian people.
