The Palestinian Foreign Ministry denounced Israel's plans for major expansions of four settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Israel's move "runs counter to a call made by the Mideast Quartet for resuming peace talks," the ministry said in a statement.
Israel is pressing ahead with its "settlement escalation," read the statement.
Palestinians seek the creation of an independent state on the territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, occupied by Israel, as well as on the Gaza Strip.
